Position Summary

The Chief People Officer is responsible for providing leadership in developing and executing human resources strategy to support the organisation’s overall business plan as well as strategic direction. Specifically, in the areas of succession planning, talent management, change management, organisational/performance management, compensation, training and development. The Chief People Officer provides strategic leadership by articulating human resource needs and related plans to the executive management team, shareholders as well as the board of directors. The Chief People Officer will be responsible for leading and managing employee communications, employee relations, policy development, legal compliance, compensation and benefits. They will also be responsible for nurturing, shaping and sustaining the overall cultural strategy of the company. The Chief People Officer will work closely with the Executive Leadership team to make culture a vital component of the overall business strategy.

Responsibilities

We expect you to take on many roles, ranging from clerical to team management. The core responsibilities are:

  • Organise and maintain a workforce that operates efficiently and without toxicity. This means that employee relations and communications fall under the CPO. If problems arise, it is their responsibility to identify them and determine the best resolution.
  • A CPO will be responsible for actively scouting new talents to aid company growth and turnover.
  • A Chief People Officer must manage the teams operating below them. When deadlines are not met, complaints arise or a deficiency is suspected, the CPO will be required to intervene with disciplinary action. Conversely, when an individual or a team performs well, the CPO should recognise these efforts and incentivise further success.
  • CPO will also oversee the financial compensation given to employees.

Requirements

  • Degree in Human Resources, Strategic Management, Business Administration or a related field
  • A Master’s degree is preferred.
  • Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) certificate, Human Resource Information Professional (HRIP) certificate or similar may be advantageous.
  • Experience in both junior and senior HR roles.
  • Working knowledge of HR software such as BambooHR, Greenhouse and Crelate Talent.
  • Sound understanding of international labour laws and HR functions.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills.
  • The ability to engage with personnel at all levels.
  • Sound planning and organisational skills.
